Hello everybody! Sorry I have been so
slack on my blog lately but will definitely be posting a lot more from now on.
So the
other day I decided to make short bread biscuits. This is a
family favourite and they are perfect for every occasion. I came
across this recipe last year and love it because it is simple and so
easy.
Ingredients:
250 grams butter
1 egg beaten
1/2 teapspoon vanilla essence
1/2 cup caster sugar
1 1/2 cups self raising flour
1/2 plain flour
Method:
1. Preheat oven to 180˚c
2. Beat butter and sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy
3. Gradually add the egg
4. Add vanilla essence
5. Sift flours in gradually and fold in to the butter mixture
3. Place dough in fridge for 10 minutes
4. Roll out dough about 1.5cm thick and cut into desired shapes.
5. Place on baking tray and bake for 15 minutes
As you can see I have used various shapes to cut out my biscuits. I also printed a pattern in some biscuits with a pattern cutter.
This recipe makes about 30-35 biscuits, it depends on how big the biscuits are. I would suggest halving the recipe if you don't want to make many biscuits Once they have cooled, you can add various thing to your biscuits to make them extra yummy!
Adding jam in the middle of two biscuits. And then dipping half the biscuit in melted chocolate and then dipping the chocolate in coconut or sprinkles. I also dipped a single biscuit in chocolate and coconut.
Add icing sugar to the rest of the biscuits
Enjoy!
With Love Angelique xx
