Elmo Cupcakes

Today I am going to show you have to make these gorgeous Elmo cupcakes which are a continuation from the cookie monster cupcakes we made in the previous post. If you didn't already know both cookie monster and Elmo are from sesame street!

You will need:
Cupcakes recipe can be found here
Butter cream icing recipe found here
Red food colouring
White chocolate melts
Black fondant
Cookie cutter
Piping bag
Wilton piping tip 1M

First bake your cupcakes and make your butter cream icing and colour it red.

Next make your eyes the same as you did for the cookie monster cupcakes. I would suggest making the eyes in advanced as it will save you time. For the eyes you get your white chocolate melts and your black fondant. You roll a tiny ball of fondant and place it on the white chocolate. Place it close to the edge of the circle.

For the nose roll a ball of orange fondant and then make the ball into a slight cone shape. I would also suggest making the noses in advanced as well, because  it will save you time and it will also allow the fondant to dry up and harden.

For the mouth roll out some black fondant and with a round cookie cutter cut it out. Then with the circle halve it.

Then place your red icing in a piping bag with your 1M tip or any star tip.

Pipe the icing around the cupcake starting from the outside and piping inwards. Make sure the icing is quite flat and doesn't have much height.

Then place your eyes and nose on. Place the nose in between the two eyes. Then place the mouth in at the bottom of the face making sure it is pushed right in. And tada!

I made these for one of my family friends who is turning 9 today! I just placed them on a white round plate and with my writing icing I wrote happy birthday Natalie!

With love Angelique xx
